Tattoo Aftercare

Remove your second skin in the shower, under lukewarm to warm water. Pull the wrap off your skin slowly, and be gentle!

Gently tap / slap your tattoo to help with the itchiness! You don't want to risk scratching off any ink while it heals.

Make sure to keep everything clean, and if need be, covered for the first few days. Air is good, but you want to avoid touching the wound to anything dirty. This includes furniture, gym equipment, pets, etc.

Moisture is your friend! Even if your tattoo is healed, the skin might remain dry for the first few weeks. Apply light layers of aftercare balm or unscented lotion a few times a day to help repair the skin.

Aftercare instructions

If you received Derm-Sheild, leave it on as long as it does not begin to peel. Take it off under warm running water, slowly peeling it away from your skin. Take your time with this step! Wash with a gentle unscented soap, and then allow your tattoo to dry completely before applying a thin layer of tattoo ointment or unscented lotion. You may pat dry with a paper towel or air dry, but do not use towels or rags! They harbor bacteria and can be rough on your freshly tattooed skin! Avoid itching/scratching, sunlight exposure, over-moisturizing, and tight clothing. Please reach out to your artist directly if you have any questions or concerns.
